DIY Thieves Hand Soap

There’s never been a better time to learn how to DIY your own products! We’ve been making this easy, economical DIY Hand Soap since we got our Young Living Starter Kit over four years ago. The ingredients are simple, effective, human and environmentally-friendly, and the scent combinations are endless. You’ll only need a handful of ingredients. These are multi-use ingredients that you can use for many DIY cleaners and personal care products in your home. Here’s what you need to make your own hand soap and tips for each item: Foaming Soap Bottle: We’re all about reducing our waste and reusing a foaming soap pump over and over again is one small step in that direction. Use an empty pump bottle you already have, turn a mason jar into a hand soap pump with a simple foaming pump top like this, or grab a cute foaming pump bottle to match your decor — we love this one, and this one, and these. Organic Unscented Liquid Castile Soap: An olive oil-based soap that is environmentally-friendly and safe for most sensitive skin. Organic liquid castile soap does not contain any harmful chemicals or foaming agents. We purchase this in the large gallon jugs from our local health food store, but you can also get smaller bottles at Target, Amazon, and some grocery stores. (Buy the big one—you can use it for much more than just hand soap!) Sweet Almond Oil, Fractionated Coconut Oil, ,or Jojoba Oil: Extremely moisturizing for the skin, use an organic moisturizing oil in this recipe to help evenly distribute the essential oils in the soap and help keep your foaming hand soap pump running smooth. Distilled Water: Every wonder how much water you’re actually paying for in your store-bought soap? Stretch your dollar further and dilute your castile soap without reducing effectiveness. We suggest using distilled or filtered water—the mineral and contaminants in tap water may degrade the soap. Essential Oils: With naturally cleansing and disinfecting properties essential oils far surpass the health-robbing “fragrances” in the hand soaps lining the store shelves. Customize your scents with different combos and change them for the seasons. The possibilities are endless! We only recommend Young Living essential oil—get yours here. Now that you’ve got the down low on ingredients, here’s how to whip up this easy DIY Hand Soap.
